Six Ways to Detect Danger

Heartbeat doesn't wait for you to press a button. It watches, listens, and acts.

Fall Detection
Accelerometer + gyroscope sensor fusion with audio thud detection. Adaptive sampling: idle at 10Hz, active at 50Hz. Apple Watch integration at 0.95 confidence bypasses check-in and goes straight to confirmed alert.
Voice Commands
"Hey Heartbeat" wake word, always on, processed on-device. Say "help" to trigger escalation. Say "I'm going for a run" to switch to enhanced monitoring. Wake word followed by silence triggers distress analysis.
Panic Button
Two triggers: 2-second screen hold with progress ring, or 3x volume-down within 2 seconds. Hardware panic activates silent mode — dark screen, no audio, no visible indication the phone just called for help.
Heart Rate Monitoring
Connects to Apple Watch, Fitbit, or Android Health Connect. Extreme heart rate detection triggers escalation. 60/40 phone/wearable confidence weighting with auto-reconnect.
Activity Awareness
Switches between idle and active monitoring modes. Higher sensor sampling and audio buffer during exercise or outdoor activity. Voice-triggered context switching.
Audio Capture
10-second rolling buffer captures audio before the trigger event. 60 seconds post-trigger at 44.1kHz. Audio context sent with the emergency payload so responders hear what happened.

Skips Level 1. Goes straight to contact alerts and dispatch. The screen stays dark. Audio stays off. GPS, medical history, and ambient audio are transmitted silently.
